Hello and welcome to the Opportunities Counseling practice website.  If you are reading this, you are likely considering the addition of therapy into your life.  I appreciate you taking time to try to get a better sense of what the therapy process is like with me, Kate.

​​​Therapy can be an invaluable opportunity to connect, reflect, and grow - particularly, when experienced through a collaborative process.  I believe you are the expert of you, the client.  My responsibility as the therapist is to help guide you in your journey of self-reflection to explore and build insight into your behaviors, feelings, and relationships.  My opinions, experiences, and knowledge may be of use to you - or not!  I am less concerned with assigning values of right or wrong within our work, and more so concerned with helping you find clarity within by reducing stress, expanding upon your perspective - fixed or growth mindset - and increase compassion for the self.  Not only is the environment around us heavy with harsh judgement but our own inner voices can be the ultimate voice of criticism and contempt.  With meaningful participation from us both, we may build a dynamic that is a powerful instrument of change and growth.
